Happy Friday, VIPs! I know that you are all coming down from your post-Valentine’s Day blissfulness (or hangover, depending on your life choices) and I hope that your love day was everything you wanted it to be. The internet was buzzing with all kinds of celeb foolery this week, so I have lots of love to share.
2Chainz has been having an interesting month so far. First he was arrested at the airport for having brass knuckles in his luggage and yesterday, in Maryland, he was taken in for having some weed on him. Here’s where it gets interesting. Mr. Chainz was in a van with 6 other people and was the only one arrested. He was booked and subsequently released. Even took a picture with the officers. He says they asked him for it. Maryland State Police Department couldn’t confirm or deny who asked for the shot, but 2Chainz went on a Twitter rant that began with “dam police f*ckn wit a n**ga.”
Rihanna has also gotten off to a running start this month. She won her 7th Grammy last weekend and looked really cuddly with Chris Brown as they sat in the crowd. The two of them even sparked engagement rumors with all the bling RiRi wore on her left ring finger. But in the same breath, there are reports that the two have split up, since CB caused a scene at Playhouse Nightclub in LA on Wednesday night. So, if this is true, how does Ms. ‘Where Have You Been’ console herself? By tweeting pictures of her Valentine’s weed plant, of course! I guess it’s back to the drawing board for the two of them.
Kim and Kanye skipped the Grammy’s this year and opted to go to Brazil for the weekend. While on their way back to LA, they were in JFK airport and an American Airlines employee helped them skip the TSA checkpoint. Someone was really starstruck, because I’m not sure I would have lost my job for that. There’s a report going around that Baby KimYe is going to have three nannies to wipe it’s spoiled little butt. If you are lucky enough to be a human pooper scooper, you will be paid $260K a year. Surgeons make that much money. Where can I get an application? Or maybe that’s what the airline worker might want to ask.
Future’s remix of Karate Chop is being pulled by Epic Records because of Lil Wayne’s lyric about Emmett Till. In the song he goes on to say that he “Beat that p***y up like Emmett Till,” which is highly controversial considering how the 14-year old civil rights figure died in 1955. Till was accused of flirting with a white woman which prompted the woman’s husband and half-brother to beat him, shoot him in the head and leave his body floating at the bottom of the Tallahatchie River. I’ll leave you to think about the touchiness of the subject.
Ok, I just want to go on a rant about this new rash of Harlem Shake videos I know that all of you have seen at least one. If not, here it is
What is this nonsense? Did you miss all of 2001? Oh, that’s right. The world wasn’t cool with hip hop then, they were still mad at Eminem. Now, it’s socially acceptable to thrash around like you’re having a seizure and call it the Harlem Shake? There was a whole lot of ish going on in that clip and none of it looked like this. No, not even a little bit. Nothing. This is the correct way to shake the Harlem way.
Now, all of you young ones, who are out here perpetuating foolishness on youtube because you don’t know any better please go tell your friends. Y’all (amongst a whole lot of other things) are killing hip hop. Please and thank you.
Alright you guys, it’s time for me to get on out of here. As always, stay tuned to MegaCityVIP for all your hip-hop news and be sure to check them out for all your music promotion needs.
