EU: ICMP is representing the global music publishing community in the work streams on the cross-border portability of online content and user-generated content as the European Commission launches its “Licenses for Europe” initiative. It will look at how industry and consumers can come up with solutions to copyright issues as a first step.
U.K.: The Digital Economy Act has been delayed again as the issue of the Sharing of Costs Order relating to notifications of copyright infringement was raised. It was ultimately removed from the Act given the U.K. Treasury’s concerns it violated its guidelines. The legislation is not expected to be tabled again until late 2014 or early 2015.
