Happy first Friday of March, VIPs! I hope that February treated you all well. I also hope that March will have plenty of good things in store for you guys.
Did you watch the Oscars? I didn’t. Nobody really watches the nominated movies either. I would however, like to nominate the video of Jennifer Lawrence tripping up the stairs as “the most embarrassing sh-t ever!” It really must have gotten to her, the chick didn’t even realize that Russell Crowe helped her get up. Seriously. I guess she had a blackout moment. Anyway, how about some random music factoids to kick things off?
Did you know that on this day in 1990, Janet Jackson started her Rhythm Nation World Tour in Miami? The first show of 120 dates included a panther on stage but after several incidents of the wild cat peeing on stage and concerns for the crowd’s safety, JJ cut the cat from the show after the first leg of the tour. Well these days Ms. Jackson is now Mrs. Al Mana. On Monday, after rumors of an elaborate ceremony in the works got out of control, she announced that she married her Qatari tycoon husband, Wissam Al Mana last year! Janet has a long track record of lengthy relationships and secret marriages. She met Wissam only months after she broke off her 7-year relationship with Jermaine Dupri. Does anyone know what magic this is that allows her to keep such secrecy? Maybe she should share it with the rest of Hollywood.
Okay, here’s another one. It’s Justin Beiber’s 19th birthday today! He’s been doing some pretty strange things lately, including taking pictures of himself in a gas mask on Instagram. Of course, this wasn’t creepy at all to all his female fans. They just thought it was sexy. (wtf?) After being spotted wearing spiky florescent yellow hat, he then inspires 9-hour tweet-a-thons by Lost creator, Damon Lindelof. My favorite tweet: “That hat looks like Pac Man wandered into the gay bar from Police Academy.” Seriously, y’all… I cried laughing. To celebrate his big day, JB performed his last show as an 18 year old in London, greeted some fans shirtless, then headed out to BLC with some pals and partied til 6 AM.
Ke$ha turns 26 today, and you know what she does? Writes songs about her lady parts… with her mother. No, really. K-dollar sign wrote “Gold Trans Am,” a bonus track on her Deluxe edition Warrior album, about how her vajayjay is “souped-up and working 100 percent of the time” So no one finds this kinda weird that the woman who birthed this chick who bathes in glitter and Jack Daniels helps her daughter pen metaphors about her vagina? Just me? Alright. If I were a dude, I’d be afraid to get in her Trans Am. She looks greasy.
Michael Jordan has a paternity suit pending against him by a woman in Fulton County, GA. Pamela Smith claims that her 16-year-old son Taj (born 1996) was the result of a night that she spent with Jordan in 1995… while he was still married to Juanita. She wants full custody, child support and to have her son’s last name legally changed from Reynolds to Jordan. Jordan is marrying Yvette Prieto in April. I wonder what she has to say about all this.
On a final note, the man driving the Jet Ski that killed Usher’s step son, Kile last July has been arrested. Jeffery Simon Hubbard was indicted by Grand Jury in Hall County, GA for Homicide by Vessel, Serious Injury by Vessel, as well as Reckless Operation of a Vessel. Kile was vacationing with his father, Ryan Glover at Lake Lanier July 6, when it is believed that Hubbard’s jet ski collided with child. He suffered severe brain injuries and was hospitalized, where he never regained consciousness.
Alright folks, that’s all I have for you this week. I appreciate you stopping by! As always, stay tuned to MegaCityVIP for all your hip hop entertainment and music promotion needs.
