The 20-year-old rapper from Brooklyn Bobby Shmurda whose real name is Ackquille Jean Pollard has become quite an internet sensation. He broke into the limelight with his new music video “Hot Nigga” which was released in June that also saw the debut of the Shmoney Dance. The song and the dance became a huge hit on You Tube with an initial hit of more than 4,50,000 which went on to reach a whopping 1.8 million within a few days.
So is here to stay? Well the answer is yes, as the young rapper has managed to capture the imagination of his audience and many DJs and artists have invited him to perform on the stage. Recently, he was on the stage performing at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival as a guest of Raekwon. He also grabbed the attention of none other than Beyonce as while performing at the Met Life Stadium, she did something strikingly similar to the Shmoney Dance.
Like it has been with a number of rappers, Shmurda also had a run-in with the law authorities as he was charged and arrested for the possession of a weapon. He has a lot of potential though and we are surely going to see him a lot more in the future.
