With musical influences like REM, The Cure, U2, Gin Blossoms and Soda Stereo, the title alternative rock for a genre of music is established when you listen to Toronto’s fast rising band ‘Morning Fame’

Their new song entitled ‘Cast Away’ features a perfect blend of the arpeggio style of play of guitars by Joe Liranzo, definitive drum lines by Al Dennis, the laid back yet soulful vocals of Vik Kapur and the heartbeat bass lines of Dan Carret…

When lyrics like ‘You left me with a letter and now I’m scarred’ meet your eardrums, they force the imagination to think of just what might be in that letter….

As the band plays along with feeling on every note Vik sings on saying

Then further to the chorus of the song singing ‘That was the year I saw the grey, I was cast away,

The song can be described as a peacefully, content melodramatic healing that rocks on while singing the blues of over a broken soul.

After watching the music video for ‘Cast Away’, I’ve put Morning Fame on my top 5 list of bands to see perform live in 2013. This is because the video simply shows the musicians all performing the feel the words the lead singer is singing, it is beautiful to watch.
