About M-Squared
Destiny is just a word for most, but for M-Squared music is his destiny and a reality from the beginning. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland life was great even though raised in a single parent household; life was prosperous for his family. At the age of 6yrs old M-Squared’s uncle introduced him to the saxophone which would be his official introduction to music and other instruments that he previously was unfamiliar with.
Entering high school M-Squared learned about the heart of the band, the drum line. His grandmother noticed that he had an interest in the drums and helped him purchase his first set. M-Squared practiced day and night to perfect his craft so that he could try out for the high school band, and when the day arrived he achieved what he had been working so fiercely on. Unbeknownst to M-Squared, his father also was a drummer, some talents are just passed down whether you are aware of them or not. The hard work that M-Squared put into his music continued to pay off with a band scholarship to Morgan University.

Like any normal college student, the semesters are full of new experiences. The club was definitely one of M-Squared’s new experiences seeing that he had never been out before. Unlike normal college students it wasn’t the atmosphere of the people and fun that everyone was having, but instead the person who was creating all the fun and energy. This became my “true passion from the first sight”, say’s M-Squared. In 2002, M-Squared purchased his first set of turn tables, and went into practicing his new found craft as a deejay as he had once done before with the drums. After a few weeks of preparation M-Squared landed his first gig at a house party and 6 months later he was an opening DJ at the local clubs.

After two years of getting the experience that he needed as a deejay the local radio station 92Q had a contest for an intern of the day for Jay Claxton. M-Squared stayed up all night completing his demo for the station. The station only kept a few of the prospective deejay interns and M-Squared was one to receive only positive feedback. After returning back to Morgan M-Squared held down the boards, dj’ing, and serving as a radio personality on the schools radio station.

M-Squared got word that Radio-One’s 93.9 WKYS DC was looking for a new person to run their boards, with this opportunity he felt that the door to national acknowledgment as a deejay was in his near future. Working at the station he received knowledge from the best DJ’s and Radio Personalities such as Russ Par, Alfrida, EZ-Street etc… After acquiring all the knowledge and experience that he possible could achieve at WKYS, the opportunity to move south was presented to him. Radio-One Dallas’ 97.9 The Beat hired M-Squared as a deejay and radio personality. This perhaps was the best move at the right time, the Dallas music industry was on a tremendous rise.

With years of experience being on the radio, dj’ing parties M-Squared wanted to expand the outlet for Independent and National artists to get more exposure so he started his own radio show “Blast Off Radio”, which has featured DJ Khalid, Dorrough, Brian (formally of Day 26), Yung Berg and many more.

M-Squared is not just about living and accomplishing all of his own dreams and goals, he also knows the importance of helping others. M-Squared did not want to just help anyone, but those who he could personally relate to. He founded the M-Squared Foundation for Single Parent Households which helps to provide assistance not only to the children but the parents as well. He has 3 scholarship programs; the Anamaria Continuing Excellence Scholarship for parents, Virginia A. Small Scholarship high school students HBCU wanting to pursue music, and the Tough Turf Scholarship for Culinary Arts Degree. Growing up in a single parent household, funding for college seem to one of the difficulties that his family faced, and he wanted to make it that much easier for people to achieve a higher education.

Today you can hear M-Squared live on 97.9 The Beat Dallas mixing the hottest music and keeping you informed on the latest trends, music and hot topics. When he isn’t doing that, you can catch M-Squared producing the hottest electronic dance remixes and original music. This is one Mogul in the making that you do not want to take your eyes off of.
