“My name is Monisola Ogunsuyi, but everyone calls me Moni, and I am a delegate in the 2015 Miss World Canada Pageant. The reason why I have decided to participate in Miss World Canada is to help women and children who have experienced the same things that I have in my life.

I am a survivor of child abuse rape and domestic violence. I really want to bring awareness to these 3 things because they are extremely common, but unfortunately not looked at as a big problem. I especially want to focus on sexual assault due to the fact that I was assaulted twice in my life and blamed for both. 1 in 4 women experience some sort of sexual trauma and less than 10% of these women report or even come forward about their experience.

Thus, my platform is to help and bring awareness to violence against women and children. Through this journey with Miss World Canada I have learned a great deal about myself and I am so thankful. Finally being able to talk about my life is therapeutic.

I’ve been given the opportunity to meet so many maxing people and I feel so honoured and thankful. I want to help young women and children. I want to inspire young women and children.

I want young women and children to know that they don’t have I be a product of their past or current situations. I want young women and children to have the courage to speak up about their experiences. I want them to know that they have my support and to the world I want to let you know that WE NEED yours.”

The deadline to raise $6000 to fund her entering the contest is May 14th 2015, so Hurry up and donate!
